Reconnecting Body, Mind and Spirit
Lynn's new DVD, "Gentle Yoga for Cancer Patients: Reconnecting Body, Mind and Spirit," is now available. If you or anyone you know is dealing with cancer — as a patient, caregiver, family member or friend — this DVD can help.
Lynn has been teaching yoga to cancer patients — both in the studio and at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center — since 2004. The DVD came out of Lynn's personal experience with cancer, out of teaching patients and survivors and specific study in the therapeutics of yoga for cancer patients.
The purpose of of this instructional DVD is:
- To help you learn to use yoga to have a comfortable, relaxed experience in your own body, in the midst of cancer treatment and survivorship;
- To help you establish an easy, enjoyable yoga practice at home;
- To provide additional support for whatever yoga classes you may be taking directly from a teacher.
The DVD includes instructions for a 45-minute Yoga practice with adaptations for your abilities and energy level, as well as instructions for making — or acquiring — and using "props" in your practice.
The Practice
The practice on this DVD developed through Lynn’s direct personal experience with yoga and cancer and her work with cancer patients and other people with limited mobility and health concerns. It has evolved through her association with studies developed by Suzanne Danhauer, Ph.D., and her colleagues at WFU/BMC Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Lynn hopes that the practice will give cancer patients, survivors, and their friends and family the experience that she was seeking as she went through my own treatment for cancer.
The poses seem gentle, but they are also powerful.
"May they help you be peaceful and happy. May they help you be free from suffering."
